![]() ![]() I like doing generative noises and I'm even programming utilities/sequencers to do this, as well as researching standard tools, and as far as I know, in Ableton you only have Max For Live Device Randomizer which is quite buggy and not convenient to use. And no, Ableton doesn't have randomization which I am talking about: in FL you can literally generate random patterns in any scale you like, also you can generate random presets for any synth/effect. I loved Harmor, Harmless, Sytrus & Fruity DrumSynth from first minutes, they are great and I would not be surprised to see them used outside of FL. In Ableton in fact I didn't gave a fuck about built-in synths, because they suck, but not in FL. Ofc if you have a lot of time / are super pro in mastering you can compress and eq it all yourself with much more precision. Also I really love it how you can just literally turn a single knob in soundgoodizer to make it much louder while still sounding decent and not too distorted. Probably this is only a big advantage for music with long tonal sequences though, because one doesn't need this so much for beats. And even after that it may still be very convenient to have this visual scale highlight to instantly see all possibilities for notes in scale and occasionals. I think learning just one single scale to the degree in which you can for any given note instantly name the next and previous one from memory in any root key is much more complicated than learning something like multiplication table. ![]() Not only for beginners but also for lazy hobbyists like me. Sidenote: I was completely shocked when I found out that 'techno' on reddit really means techno! ![]() Does anybody have any experience or any other tips that could help me out? I am wrong? Does it sound like a good idea? Don't know much about Ableton so switching will take some time, which is why I'm writing this. I need a raw DAW that I'll use as a tool for expressing ideas. I believe I know a lot about production (well, enough to know what I'm doing) and I've never been a fan of using a bunch of magical, instant perfection VSTs that I notice a lot of producers use without knowing a single thing about what they do. I think that FL is great for beginners and for people who create by ear, not knowing much about music theory and music production (not trying to disrespect anyone), especially for other genres. So, I've been thinking of switching to Ableton, don't know how it'll help me, but I feel that it might be a better platform for me to create. I lose all creativity and every knob tweak feels like a step in the wrong direction and after some time I just give up. However, somewhere in the FL part of the process I completely block for some reason(s). Next, I export the loops and arrange and mix them in FL Studio which I've been using for ages and know very well. Hey guys, I got a NI Maschine Mikro a year ago (which I love and recommend) and have since used the Maschine software for loops, ideas and the whole creative part of making a track.
